Victory Lane Karting  Mr. Fred Ogrim  Sporting / Entertainment Industry

Victgory Lane Karting is the largest indoor karting facility in the country with 3 tracks inside a 70,000 plus s.f. facility. They pride themselves on doing cutting edge things to reduce costs in the business and to market and operate the business as well as to attract a loyal following of patrons. To that end they regularly look for partners who can help them develop new products and new ideas to either make money or save money.

In the course of operating their high end karting facility Victory Lane Karting goes through a lot of muffler/catalytic converter assemblies on the karts. The existing product is imported from Euorpe and there is only supplier who is not innovating the product and has charged high fees for many years. Victory Lane Karting was looking for a new product development partner and India Source responded to that challenge.

India Source held detailed discussions with Victory Lane karting to understand their business, the specific needs of this project and the goals and objectives of a finished product. To that end they wanted to take the existing product which was in multiple pieces, noisy, and expensive and replace it with a more cost effective and efficient one. India Source took a sample of the existing product to one of its suppliers that is well known for creating mufflers and catalytic convertors for domestic and imported vehicles for personal and commercial use as well as motorcycleas and pleasure vehichles. The process began with discussion of the customer’s business and went on to the evaluation of a sample muffler assembly. It as decided that the current design was inefficient as it was cast in three pieces and could be made in one solid body housing the catalytic converter. Knowing that noise was a problem for an indoor facility it was decided that packing the inside lining with ‘glass wool’ which is a insulating material for both heat and sound would improve on the product. The design of the exhisting catalytic converter also proved to be inefficient and resulted in the mufflers having to be replaced much faster than they should have to be. A new design with a different housing enabled the catalytic converter to operate more efficiently, at a lower cost of acquisition, and at better environmental factors for sound and exhaust pollution.
